Position Summary

The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving a variety of nutritious meals and snacks for children in our full-day program, following planned menus and maintaining a safe, well-run kitchen.

What you'll do

• Prepare and serve fresh, nutritious meals and snacks daily for enrolled children
• Accommodate children with restricted diets with care and creativity
• Plan weekly menus in collaboration with our contracted nutritionist, meeting CCFP meal pattern requirements
• Purchase food and supplies and maintain accurate records for the Child Care Food Program
• Jump into the classroom to support teachers and interact with children when needed
• Maintains verification of food and non-food purchases to meet CCFP (Child Care Food Program) requirements.
• In collaboration with the Contracted Nutritionist, develops weekly menus to meet CCFP meal pattern requirements.
• Maintains a safe and sanitary kitchen, pantry and storage areas.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimally 2 years cooking experience, institutional, school or childcare settings with children under 3 years of age.
• A high school diploma or equivalent required
• Drivers License and reliable transportation (may serve multiple locations)

Preferred Qualifications

• 3-12 units in Early Childhood Development or enrolled in school.
• Food Handlers Permit
• Bilingual English/Spanish
