Cook (DOH/NMBHI #12891)

Salary: $17.00 - $25.49 hourly ($35,350 - $53,024 annually). This position is a Pay Band C2 and is used for ongoing recruitment.

About the role

Incumbent will prepare and cook large quantities of food according to menus, special dietary or nutritional restrictions, and numbers of portions to be served.

Responsibilities include accurately measuring, mixing, and preparing ingredients according to recipes using a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment.

Customers include patients, residents, clients, and staff.

Ideal Candidate

• Experience as a cook
• Experience with proper food temperatures
• Experience serving food to residents of a hospital or institution
• Experience cleaning and sterilizing kitchen, utensils, and equipment

Requirements

No prior experience or training required.

• Must possess and maintain a valid NM Driver's License
• Must obtain a Defensive Driving Certificate

Working Conditions

• Work in a hospital and office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage
• Exposure to mentally and behaviorally challenged residents who may exhibit unpredictable and sometimes violent behaviors in volatile situations
• Tobacco-free and e-cigarette-free campus (no tobacco, tobacco products, or e-cigarettes permitted)

Department: Dietary. Work hours: 11:30 PM to 7:30 AM.
