About the Role

Prepare and cook large quantities of quality nutritional meals for residents at a long-term care facility, while maintaining established nutritional standards.

• Clean, cut, and cook meat, fish, or poultry.
• Cook foods according to menus, special dietary or nutritional restrictions, or numbers of portions to be served.
• Clean and inspect galley equipment, kitchen appliances, and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operation.
• Serve food to facility residents, employees, or patrons.
• Direct activities of one or more workers who assist in preparing and serving meals.

Customers: Residents at a long-term care facility.

Requirements

• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
• Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.

Qualifications

No prior experience or training required.

Employment Conditions

• Employment is subject to a nationwide criminal background check pursuant to New Mexico Caregivers Criminal Screening Act.
• Employment is conditional pending results of a tuberculosis (TB) screening upon hire.

Working Conditions

• Works in a kitchen and moves intermittently during working hours.
• Works beyond normal duty hours, on weekends, and in other positions temporarily when necessary.
• Subject to sudden temperature changes when entering refrigerators.
• May be exposed to heat/cold temperatures in kitchen/storage areas.
• Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
• May be required to work rotating shifts, weekends, overtime, and holidays.

Pay

$17.00 - $25.49 hourly ($35,350 - $53,024 annually). This position is a Pay Band C2.
