Essential Functions
- Follows patient menus accurately in the patients tray line
- Affords assistance in preparing Meals on Wheels trays for volunteers
- Affords assistance in unloading clean dishes and putting them in appropriate areas
- Affords assistance in sweeping and mopping kitchen floor
- Is accountable for making coffee/tea/cookies, as needed
- Cleans work areas, equipment, walls, cabinets, storage areas, and other areas assigned in accordance with established cleaning schedules
- Is accountable for washing dishes, cookware (pots/pans), flatware, and trays, using approved procedures
- Is accountable for answering the telephone, as needed
- Affords assistance in the delivering of snacks/beverage to the floor as needed
- Affords assistance in unloading groceries and restocking in appropriate locations
- Sets up trays, wraps silverware for meals and wipes out food cart after use
- Fills walk-in cooler with juices and soda pop; fills cracker and other containers, as needed
- Affords assistance with cooking on an as needed limited basis
Physical Demands
- Requires full range of motion including; balancing, fingering, pulling, pushing, standing, climbing, grasping, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching, lifting, repetitive motion
Environmental Conditions
- Exposure to the following environmental conditions when performing duties: inside and outside environmental conditions such as chemical hazards, respiratory hazards and extreme cold in temperature when entering refrigerated areas
- Exposure to burns from hot foods and utensils, cuts from knives, and the possibility of injury from falls on slippery floors
Knowledge, Experience And Education
- Must be able to cope with mental and emotional stress related to working with persons who are ill, disabled, elderly and/or emotionally upset
- Must be able to use tools and equipment required
- Basic computer skills preferred
- Must have the ability to stand, stoop, lift moderate weights, and pull and push items
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred
- Minimum of six months prior experience in a food service department a plus
- Certificate of Food Safety (Serve Safe) a plus and/or must be willing to attend course
