Cook/ Chef Position for School Food Service

Join our school nutrition team as an Elementary School Cook and help provide healthy, delicious meals to our students every day. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys cooking, working with children, and being part of a supportive school community.

Schedule

• Monday through Friday, day shift, 7 am to 2 pm
• No weekends or holidays
• Summers off (10-month school calendar)

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook breakfast and lunch for elementary school students
• Deliver breakfast and lunch to Pre-K classrooms
• Serve meals in a friendly and efficient manner
• Complete daily production records accurately
• Count and monitor food and supply inventory
• Operate a Point of Sale (POS) system or learn to use one
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen
• Wash dishes and assist with daily kitchen cleaning
• Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines
• Work collaboratively with the school nutrition team to ensure excellent meal service

Qualifications

• Previous cooking experience in a restaurant, cafeteria, school, healthcare, or other commercial kitchen preferred
• Experience with inventory and recordkeeping is a plus
• POS system experience preferred, or the ability to learn
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to stand for extended periods, lift kitchen supplies, and perform the physical duties of the position
