Conveyor / Equipment Engineer

This onsite role in Vance, AL focuses on conveyor systems, equipment planning, installation, and technical coordination within an active automotive manufacturing environment. If you’re eager to grow your career and make a meaningful impact on exciting projects, we look forward to your application PURPOSE: This position is responsible for coordinating all activities and topics with conveyor equipment supplier and the vehicle manufacturing site during planning, modification, installation, implementation, and commissioning of conveyor systems and related production equipment. The role works closely with engineering, production, suppliers, and international project teams to coordinate conveyor and equipment activities, particularly within a brownfield environments and ongoing production. The position serves as a technical link between the manufacturing site and planning organizations, ensuring that equipment modifications and installations are properly planned, documented, coordinated, and executed with no impact to ongoing production. RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinate the planning, modification, installation, and implementation of conveyor systems and related manufacturing equipmentDue to brownfield environment with ongoing production all installations take place on weekends and shutdowns by suppliersKey is coordinating all activities with suppliers and vehicle production prior to weekends and shutdownsWork closely with engineering, production, maintenance, suppliers, and project teams to resolve technical and installation-related issuesSupport equipment planning, including layouts, technical requirements, installation activities, and implementation schedulesCoordinate and monitor installation and modification activities on the production floor during weekends as neededTrack project progress, milestones, open issues, and required actions and provide regular status updatesPrepare and maintain technical project documentation, installation records, progress documentation, and project-related reportsIdentify potential risks, delays, or technical issues and coordinate appropriate corrective actionsSupport project planning and scheduling activities while ensuring alignment between production requirements, engineering activities, and supplier work QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field3+ years of experience with conveyor systems, manufacturing equipment, or equipment planning within the automotive or comparable manufacturing industryHands-on experience supporting equipment installation, modification, or implementationExperience working in brownfield environments and/or active production facilities . REQUIRED SKILLS: Strong practical knowledge of conveyor systems and their integration into automotive manufacturing operationsExperience with equipment planning, installation, modification, and implementationProven ability to work effectively in ongoing production environments with multiple technical stakeholdersStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve technical and operational issuesAbility to coordinate multiple activities, suppliers, and technical teams while maintaining schedules and prioritiesStrong verbal and written communication skillsWorking knowledge of project planning and project management principles PREFERED SKILLS Experience working at Mercedes-Benz U.S. International (MBUSI) in Vance, AL or comparable automotive manufacturing facilitiesExperience with conveyor systems in AssemblyExperience with brownfield modifications and installations during ongoing productionGerman language skills PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbsMust be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practices FLSA STATUS/WORKING SCHEDULE: Location: Vance, AL Schedule: Day shift, 40h/wOvertime: as requiredAssignment Start: September 2026 DISCLAIMER: This job description is a high-level overview of general expectations of this position.
