Summary

Aid in the daily production of quality converted products in a safe, productive environment with minimal waste. Train and cross-train employees on machinery and processes. Ensure necessary tools and materials are available. Supervise crews to ensure reliability, dependability, and teamwork. Maintain and improve morale. Address questions, concerns, and problems. Train crew members on efficiency and performance. Communicate with supervisors and Maintenance Superintendent on repairs and maintenance. Keep upper management informed of departmental issues. Conduct weekly Production/Safety meetings. Coordinate with supervisors to avoid shift change problems. Enhance career skills through seminars, courses, and college education. Implement and support company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Train and cross-train employees on machinery and processes.
  • Ensure necessary tools and materials are available for crews.
  • Oversee crews to ensure reliability, dependability, and teamwork.
  • Maintain and improve morale among crew members.
  • Address questions, concerns, and problems expressed by the crew.
  • Train crew members on the importance of running efficiently.
  • Communicate with crew members regarding performance.
  • Cover any repairs or preventive maintenance done in the department.
  • Keep upper management informed of problems or situations affecting the department.
  • Conduct weekly Production/Safety meetings with departmental personnel.
  • Coordinate with supervisors to avoid problems between shift changes.
  • Improve career skills by enrolling in seminars, technical courses, and related college courses.
  • Implement, maintain, and support all company policies and procedures, including safety programs and good housekeeping.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years prior leadership experience.
  • Prior work experience in the corrugated industry preferred.
  • Able to read and interpret documents, write routine reports, and speak effectively.
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts, and apply high school math.

Education and Certifications

  • May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly stand, walk, and talk or hear.
  • Frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Sometimes lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet and/or humid conditions, high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, vibration, and noise levels in the work environment.
