About the role
The Industrial Controls Technician reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for maintaining plant equipment to ensure high levels of reliability and minimizing downtime.
Responsibilities
- Perform tasks required to maintain equipment and troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Make repairs and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Establish and maintain accurate, current, and secure documentation of printed logic, PLC programs, drive parameters, electronic files, and supporting software.
- Maintain, set up, and select supporting hardware for electronic systems.
- Evaluate electronic systems and software.
- Facilitate electronic and PLC training within the department.
- Identify and report obsolete, unsupported, or deficient systems, and research and propose solutions.
- Participate in process improvement, new installations, and make-ready related to electronic, PLC, or mechanical projects.
- Function as a maintenance technician, responsible for PM duties, project work, and scheduled or breakdown maintenance.
- Work with the site MRO Coordinator concerning inventory management of related electronic spares.
Requirements
- Must be able to pass electrical skills and safety testing to become a qualified Category 2 worker.
- Must be capable of performing electrical work on systems up to 480 Volts.
- Must have 3-5 years’ experience within an industrial setting where your focus was heavily with electrical and PLCs.
- Must have strong electronic and PLC skills, proficient knowledge of AB applications.
- Familiarity with Allen Bradley PLCs and Beckhoff PLCs is preferred.
- Must have a proficient understanding of applicable software, program languages, and printed logic.
- Must be capable of programming, writing, rewriting, and creating new operating programs.
- Must have a strong understanding of current applications and systems, both mechanical and electrical.
- Must have proficient computer skills, including word processing and software understanding.
- Must have strong general math skills.

Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
