About the Role

Mariana Minerals is a software-first, vertically integrated minerals company on a mission to supply the critical minerals powering modern energy, AI, and defense technologies. The Controls Technician provides competent and effective electrical and controls support to Refinery operations, ensuring work meets operational needs and complies with all safety codes. This role involves troubleshooting and repairing electrical and controls wiring and programming in production equipment and systems, working with voltages up to 480V, three-phase & single-phase A/C circuits, transformers, switchgear, and motor control centers.

Responsibilities

  • Read and translate building and process blueprints and one-line diagrams to install outlets, circuits, load centers, and other electrical equipment.
  • Test all connections post-installation to ensure proper and safe operation.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical and controls issues in industrial equipment using appropriate instruments.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on electrical and control systems, including disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, and calibration.
  • Adhere to local, state, and national electrical codes.
  • Maintain motor control centers (MCCs), switchgear, industrial robots, electronic controllers, transformers, and generators.
  • Communicate potential electrical hazards to management, engineers, mechanics, and equipment operators.
  • Execute the maintenance work schedule as provided by your supervisor, making strategic decisions to complete work on time.
  • Determine the scope and best approach for assigned jobs.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly shop environment, prioritizing safety in all operations.
  • Update the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to maintain accurate plant asset records.
  • Understand plant processes and packaging systems to protect product integrity and quality.
  • Recommend equipment for preventive maintenance programs and suggest improvements to maintenance processes.
  • Maintain close contact with maintenance crews, production supervisors, and equipment operators.
  • Maintain necessary records and files, distributing accurate control reports.

Qualifications

  • Preferred 3-5 years of manufacturing maintenance experience focused on controls and electronics.
  • Proficiency in controls equipment, including Allen Bradley PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, and Industrial Networks.
  • Experience with Human Machine Interfaces and basic Programmable Logic Control (PLC) knowledge.
  • Ability to use a computer and associated PLC software programs.
  • Experience executing small and medium projects involving controls equipment such as SLC 500, ControlLogix, PanelView Plus, and Allen Bradley VFDs.
  • Ability to follow manufacturer specifications and schematics.
  • Proficient in reading one-line diagrams, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical data related to the electrical trade.
  • Ability to calculate electrical circuit load requirements.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of electrical power and distribution systems.
  • Maintenance background in hydraulics, controls, electrical, PLCs, machine tools, and pneumatics.
  • Skill in troubleshooting electrical problems and applying test procedures on large projects.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools of the electrician trade, including electronic, electrical, or electromechanical test equipment.
  • Ability to test, calibrate, troubleshoot, overhaul, repair, and install complete electrical systems.
