Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the design, development and installation of new plc based control systems.
  • Provides production support by trouble shooting and resolving machine PLC related issues.
  • Produces and updates documents including work/user instructions, functional specifications, detailed design specifications, electrical and pneumatic schematics, etc.
  • Conducts machine functionality and fault recovery testing and participates in project startup and machine commissioning.
  • Works collaboratively with Manufacturing Engineers, Maintenance Technicians, Production Supervisors and other internal staff.
  • Reports all unsafe and unhealthy conditions, as well as injuries, accidents, illnesses, near misses and property damage immediately to management.
  • Complies with all Health, Safety and Environmental standards in accordance with the Magna Employee Charter, the Occupational Health & Safety Act. And the Michigan Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • If there is any reason to believe that any equipment, physical condition of the workplace or assigned task is likely to jeopardize customer’s requirements, internal requirements or the quality of tests results and/or equipment build, notify management immediately.
  • Awards authorities as detailed in our Quality System for ISO/TS16949 2009 including but not limited to Corrective and Preventative Actions, Control of Documents, Control of Records, Internal Audits and Control of Nonconforming Product

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in the following: Electrical control system design, PLC programming and troubleshooting.
  • Strong MS Office skills, willing to work overtime as per job requirements.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Control Tech preferred.
  • Knowledge of industrial networks. (DeviceNet, EthernetIP)
  • Familiar with Vision Systems (Keyence, Cognex, Omron)
  • Basic knowledge of the use of electrical devices (i.e. proximity switches, load cells, LVDT’s, signal conditioners, etc.)
  • Ability to read and understand technical documents, schematic design specification.
  • Excellent written & oral communication, as well as analytical & problem solving skills.
