About the role
HMC Products, a division of ProMach, seeks a Controls Technician to join our team. This position involves developing and programming PLC, Servo, and HMI controls software for packaging automation machinery. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in engineering, particularly in PLC programming, HMI development, and troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
- Develop and program PLC, Servo, and HMI controls software for packaging automation machinery.
- Solve complex challenges with expert troubleshooting skills to meet customer expectations.
- Interpret technical specifications and application parameters.
- Aid in the installation, start-up, and commissioning of new machines.
- Perform software modifications to existing machines.
- Collaborate with mechanical and electrical hardware engineering teams to execute projects.
- Travel to customer sites to support servicing and commissioning of packaging automation equipment.
- Partner with all other departments as needed.
Requirements
- Applied Science (2-year degree) with emphasis in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, Industrial Automation or Programming preferred.
- PLC programming, HMI development, and troubleshooting skills.
- A general understanding of automation, including high-speed assembly machinery and general automation technology.
- Experience with PLC Programming (Allen Bradley) and Ladder Logic.
- Demonstrated understanding of engineering theories and principles.
- Ability to work in a team environment and focus on customer service.
- Strong problem identification and resolution skills.
- Effective attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
- Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
- Experience with AutoCAD and blueprint reading preferred.
- Willingness to travel approximately 10 to 20 percent.
Qualifications
- Education: Applied Science (2-year degree) with emphasis in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, Industrial Automation or Programming preferred.
- Skills: PLC programming, HMI development, troubleshooting skills, general understanding of automation, experience with PLC Programming (Allen Bradley) and Ladder Logic, demonstrated understanding of engineering theories and principles, ability to work in a team environment, strong problem identification and resolution skills, effective attention to detail, sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills, experience with AutoCAD and blueprint reading, willingness to travel.

Pay
