About the Role

As a Control Systems Specialist - Naval Marine, you will provide technical leadership for the Control Systems US Naval Marine Defense team. You will lead technical and planning activities, direct a team of engineers to ensure technical outcomes meet appropriate standards and quality, and engage with a global engineering community to identify collaboration and knowledge exchange opportunities across the Rolls-Royce Naval Marine portfolio. This role supports full product life cycle development and in-service support while mentoring engineers on processes, tools, and technical solutions. Travel up to 20% between Rolls-Royce sites and up to 10% for customer or supplier visits may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineering teams, internal/external customers, and suppliers to develop control system solutions, including hardware and software, to meet customer needs.
  • Direct a cross-functional team to establish the highest standards of technical capability, quality, professionalism, and teamwork.
  • Lead, review, and approve engineering and process guidance, training, and documentation.
  • Lead a team of control system engineers to solve complex problems using technical experience and knowledge.
  • Develop and communicate complex technical and business ideas in a concise and logical way.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering with 5+ years of product development engineering experience, OR
  • Master’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering with 3+ years of product development engineering experience, OR
  • PhD in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering.
  • Must be a US Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience and demonstrated capability in root cause investigation using evidence-based practices.
  • Engineering experience or familiarity with designing and supporting control systems for US Naval gas turbine modules, propulsion systems, or generator sets.
  • Experience in the marine industry, including technical support, documentation, problem-solving, Naval standards, and Mil-Specifications.
  • Experience with the control of electrical power generation equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience with complex control system design and analysis tools.
  • Experience providing technical and professional leadership to a team of engineers.
  • Willingness to travel infrequently on a scheduled and unscheduled basis, including working in industrial, shipyard, or shipboard environments.

Pay

$122,741 - $199,454 annually.

Location: Indianapolis, IN (Hybrid). Relocation assistance may be provided if applicable.
