Controls Mechanic
Job Summary
Responsible for the installation, maintenance, repairs to machinery, equipment, physical structures, electrical systems throughout the manufacturing site. Responsible for PLC Troubleshooting, Electrical Troubleshooting, Electro/Mechanical Troubleshooting, accessing, troubleshooting, making changes and programming to PLCs, accessing, and troubleshooting instrumentation equipment. Responsible for the installation, maintenance, repairs to machinery, equipment, physical structures, electrical systems throughout the manufacturing site. Responsible for on-site coverage of mechanical, electrical, and electrical controls equipment. Work hand in hand with the onsite shift supervisors. Collaborate and drive CI improvements on the shift. Collaborate and participate in training other team members in basic PLC and electronic troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
- Perform, guide and or asset in a variety of installations, preventative maintenance, and projects, on plant and facility equipment.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair manufacturing equipment including electrical, mechanical, and plumbing to ensure equipment is in good repair, and in a safe operating condition.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair pumps, boilers, steam system, water system, hydraulic system, pneumatic system, and any fluid system as applies.
- Be familiar with the plant facility and general operations of same.
- Use handle tools, electrical testing equipment, meters, and diagnostic equipment properly, and use required protective gear.
- Perform light welding, grinding, and cutting, when needed.
- Comply with all Federal State and Company Safety Guidelines and procedures.
- Participate, and collaborate, in the development of preventative maintenance procedures for various pieces of equipment.
- Thorough understanding and troubleshooting knowledge of industrial 3-phase, power distribution, motor control circuits; including AC/DC, VFD’s, Analog systems, line control systems, and servo motion control devices and systems.
- Thorough knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC's, FactoryTalk, IO-Link and Metrics suites for programming, upgrading, and troubleshooting purposes.
- Work with little supervision.
- Communicates to Maintenance and/or Plant leadership any condition that prevents the manufacturing of products to established standards.
- Execute assigned duties satisfactorily and in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
- Adheres to and promotes all plant Safety, Quality, GMP and Sanitation policies.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- College level software programing and or pre engineering strongly desired, and or Equivalent Electro/mechanical education, Mechatronics training and/or certification desired.
- Vocational and or accredited technical education desired. (BOCES, State University, etc.)
- 1-3 years' PLC and controls experience. (3-5 years’ experience preferred)
- Ammonia Refrigeration systems a plus
- Experience within PLC's, analog controls, sensors, instrumentation and VFDs. (IT Networking and pathway experience a plus)
- Experience and ability to read Schematics, Electrical Prints, P&IDs, Mechanical drawings
- Excellent troubleshooting knowledge and fully capable of electrical testing equipment and tools.
- High-level of demonstrated mechanical experience and aptitude required.
- Strong analytical and computer skills. (i.e., Word, Excel, etc.)
- Excellent communication and people skills.
- Understand and implements operational urgency and supports production needs as needed.
- Must be initiative-driven and self-motivated.
Physical Requirements
- Standing for extended periods of time.
- Walking frequently and bending frequently.
- Ability to climb and work at heights.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (50+lbs).
- Ability to work in tight areas with arms extended outward.

The pay range for this position is $38.47 - $39.80 USD

Schedule
Shift work will be required, up to and including some overtime, some alternating weekend work required, as well as holiday work.
