Mechanic Full Time | Public Services Department Salary Range: $45,381 - $49,121 | Employee Benefits: 401(a) and 457(b) Retirement Plans, Tuition Reimbursement, Referral Bonus, Wellness Benefits Suite, Paid Holiday, Vacation, & Sick Leaves The City of Lake Alfred is seeking a skilled Mechanic to perform diagnosis, maintenance, and repairs on a variety of vehicles and equipment, including light/heavy‑duty trucks, utility vehicles, and specialized public‑works equipment. Overtime or alternate hours may be required. Essential Duties Diagnose and repair engines, brakes, electrical, hydraulic, fuel, and drive‑train systemsPerform preventive maintenance using manufacturer and Fleet checklists. Complete work orders, verify mileage, order parts, and confirm warranty statusMaintain shop equipment and follow OSHA, EPA, DOT, and safety standards Minimum Requirements High school diploma/GED. Auto/truck maintenance certification or one current ASE certification. Three (3) years of mechanic experience. Valid Florida Driver’s License. CDL preferredMust provide own mechanic tools Physical Requirements Heavy lifting; frequent standing, bending, and equipment use; exposure to heat, noise, odors, and confined spaces; PPE required.
