About the role

The Controls Engineer III plays a pivotal role in ensuring the manufacturing plant operates smoothly and efficiently, adhering to quality and safety standards. This role involves designing and developing Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs), Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems using various programming languages and platforms. The engineer is responsible for implementing and integrating equipment used in assembly processes, developing and maintaining Statistical Process Control (SPC) control charts and monitoring systems, creating and modifying programs for machines, robotics, and systems, performing troubleshooting, analyzing automation equipment failures, recommending new technologies, and leading the documentation and coordination of Statement of Work (SOW) and User Requirements Specification (URS).

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop HMI, MES, and SCADA systems using Ignition platform and SQL, Python, JavaScript.
  • Implement and integrate equipment used in assembly processes with SPC capabilities.
  • Create, modify, and maintain programs for machines, robotics, and systems.
  • Perform troubleshooting for process equipment hardware and programming of controllers like PLCs and HMIs.
  • Analyze automation equipment failures and propose solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Lead the documentation and coordination of SOW and URS to ensure equipment meets intended applications.
  • Coordinate work from suppliers supporting maintenance, new equipment, integration, or other work.
  • Ensure new automation equipment is implemented and functions according to design and applicable standards.
  • Create electrical schematics and other engineering support documents for new or existing equipment.
  • Drive continuous improvement through automation work in compliance with safety procedures and policies.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned to meet business needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of related experience in automation and robotics.
  • Understanding of machine motion and terminology.
  • Strong computer skills with experience using CAD software and Microsoft Office.

Preferred Skills

  • HMI and SCADA programming experience.
  • Allen Bradley PLC programming experience.
  • Fanuc, Universal Robot, Epson experience.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.

Pay Range

$103,000.00 - $120,000.00 / Annually
