Controls Engineer II
The Opportunity
JR Automation, a Hitachi Group Company, drives customer success globally through intelligent automated manufacturing and distribution technology solutions. We are seeking a Controls Engineer II in Lake Orion, MI to join our team of talented engineers. This role involves designing, implementing, and documenting controls systems for automated equipment, troubleshooting, and ensuring compliance with specifications.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and document controls systems for various types of automated equipment
- Troubleshoot robot controllers, ladder logic, electrical control devices, mechanical units, transfer devices, and peripheral equipment
- Perform machine power up, debug, and programming
- Ensure equipment is designed and programmed to specifications using standard techniques and approaches
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or an Associate's Degree with 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Prior experience with JR Automation or within the automation industry is strongly preferred
- Experience working with PLCs, HMIs, robotics, mechatronics, motion control systems, vision systems, and/or programming
- Proficiency with CAD tools such as AutoCAD Electrical or SolidWorks is preferred
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and pneumatic schematic drawings
- Willingness and ability to travel 35–50% to customer sites and other JR Automation locations
