Controls Engineer II
About the role
As a Controls Engineer II, OT at Hilmar Cheese Company, you will work under moderate supervision to develop automation controls for HMI and PLC applications in a process manufacturing environment. You will lead small to medium-sized projects and collaborate with IT and OT departments on the analysis, design, troubleshooting, problem resolution, maintenance, and documentation of manufacturing solutions.
Responsibilities
- Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications based on support requests as directed by manager.
- Provide 24/7 on-call support for designated time frames.
- Prepare functional and technical reviews.
- Serve as a technical resource for OT projects.
- Collaborate with IT and OT departments as needed.
- Gather and translate business requirements into controls specifications.
- Program PLC and SCADA systems from various manufacturers.
- Collaborate with manufacturing clients to identify and solve problems.
Requirements
- High School Diploma and 7 years of experience, or Associate’s Degree in a related field and 5 years of experience, or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and 3 years of experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively with non-technical staff and interdisciplinary teams.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
- Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills (both technical and non-technical).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Capability to understand simple to moderate business processes and develop business acumen to become a subject matter expert.
What will put you ahead
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 6 years of related experience, or Master’s degree in a related field and 4 years of related experience.
- MES (Manufacturing Execution System) experience.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
The work is primarily performed in an office environment, with physical demands characteristic of a mostly sedentary role. Some responsibilities may require collaboration in manufacturing areas.
Pay
Salary Range: USD $87,865.00 – $131,798.00 per year. The final compensation offered within this range will depend on factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and market alignment.
