Controls Engineer II
About the role
Power the future of automation as a Controls Engineer II at Day & Zimmermann. You'll design, program, and optimize PLCs, SCADA systems, and automated equipment to keep operations running smoothly. Your daily tasks include troubleshooting, documenting solutions, and collaborating with process owners to enhance production line uptime and reduce downtime.
Responsibilities
- Design, troubleshoot, and program automated equipment.
- Work closely with process owners to design, build, and maintain user-friendly controls and equipment.
- Find solutions to improve equipment utilization and reduce downtime by identifying and resolving production process issues.
- Limited scope of project management.
- Direct the work of maintenance personnel and outside services.
Requirements
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and complex diagrams.
- Write routine correspondence.
- Speak effectively before employees of the organization.
- Specify and build control systems.
- Knowledge in PLC or other automated systems. SCADA experience required.
- Understand NEC, NFPA, NESC.
- Prioritize and handle multiple duties simultaneously.
- Apply logical thinking to identify and resolve automated process issues.
- Knowledge in Microsoft Office software.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to interface and integrate multiple systems and platforms in automated processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field (prefer Electrical Engineer, Computer Engineer, or Automation focus).
- 2+ years Engineering experience.
- PLC and HMI experience required.
- Valid REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or current passport.

Pay
The salary range for this role is $76,080 to $114,120. Final offer amount may vary based on factors including experience and geographic location.
