Controls Engineer - HVAC
About the role
Carel USA is seeking a HVAC Controls Engineer to join our dynamic team. This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in designing and developing solutions for HVAC controls systems. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, capable of viewing the system as a whole and thinking creatively.
Responsibilities
- Designs, develops, and implements programmable control solutions for the HVAC/R industry
- Trains customers in the use of proprietary hardware and software solutions
- Interacts and visits with customers, as required, to support the development of application software
- Affords assistance in the development and implementation of control solutions
- Affords assessment of existing control logic to identify issues and potential improvements
- Possesses working knowledge of the full range of product platforms
- Works with the sales team to determine customer control requirements
- Works with sales team and marketing teams to provide feedback based on customer requests, industry trends, and domain knowledge to develop and enhance electronic service offerings
- Provides support and troubleshooting to customers for Carel products and software solutions
Qualifications
- 4 year degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
- One or more years of experience working with Programmable Controls and Electronics in a technical or commercial role
- One or more years of experience in the HVAC/R Industry
- Familiarity with IEC 61131-3 Structured Text and Function Block Diagram programming
- Ability to read electrical schematics and process control diagrams
- Familiarity with automation protocols such as BACnet and Modbus
- Basic knowledge of Networking/IT Infrastructure

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel for this position is up to 25%.
