About the role

The Controls Engineer will manage automated control systems, including equipment and logic, site and machine electrical documentation, site electrical distribution, and support capital projects at the Salt Lake City site.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise in selecting, installing, and programming automated control systems (e.g., Rockwell - Factory Talk Historian, Wonderware, Siemens) for Salt Lake City assets.
  • Safeguard the integrity of Salt Lake City programs and mitigate unauthorized modifications.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and alarm management to enhance process control in manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure accurate and accessible electrical documentation for efficient troubleshooting and maintenance of Salt Lake City assets.
  • Assist in troubleshooting electrical and control systems.
  • Participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) for PSM-critical processes and provide expertise on established control systems.
  • Participate in the Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) program for electrical/control system failures and provide corrective actions for overall equipment effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on continuous improvement and upgrades to existing Salt Lake City assets, including capital projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field, or an Associate's degree in Automation and Controls with relevant experience.
  • At least 3+ years of experience in controls engineering or process automation.
  • Strong knowledge of automated control systems, such as Rockwell (Factory Talk Historian), Wonderware, and Siemens.
  • Experience with AutoCAD.
  • Proficient in electrical documentation and troubleshooting techniques, with familiarity in machine networking and communication protocols.
  • Lean and Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • Experience with SCADA (Ignition) software preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Experience incorporating machine data, operational data, and vendor data to drive continuous improvement preferred.
  • Ability to lead projects.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
