Controls Engineer

About the role

The Controls Engineer will join the Manufacturing team at Cummins Drivetrain and Breaking Systems in Maxton, NC. This role focuses on developing and optimizing control systems for equipment and machinery to enhance performance and efficiency. The engineer will also troubleshoot complex technical challenges and support the installation and programming of PLC-based systems. Additionally, the position involves mentoring less experienced engineers and fostering a culture of continuous learning.

• Resolve complex technical challenges through troubleshooting and debugging.

• Strengthen manufacturing capabilities through installation and programming of PLC systems.
• Build team capability by coaching and mentoring less experienced engineers.

Requirements

• A college degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience is required.
• Intermediate level of relevant work experience is required.
• Complete knowledge of low power DC control systems and high voltage power distribution systems is preferred.
• Proficient at reading and creating electrical prints.
• Strong troubleshooting skills related to machines and assembly lines are necessary.
• Fluency in Allen Bradley HMI and RedLion HMI programming is required.
• Expert use of AutoCad and all MS Office software is a must.
