Overview Thompson Hospitality Facilities is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Custodian to support the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall appearance of campus facilities at Lincoln University. The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors through daily custodial services and facility support. Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, restrooms, residence halls, dining areas, common spaces, and other campus facilitiesPerform routine custodial duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, trash removal, and disinfecting surfacesReplenish restroom and facility supplies including soap, paper towels, tissue, and sanitizing productsMaintain entrances, hallways, stairwells, elevators, and exterior walkways to ensure cleanliness and safetyRespond promptly to spills, emergency cleanups, and service requestsAssist with room setups and breakdowns for meetings, campus events, and special functionsOperate custodial equipment such as vacuums, floor machines, carpet extractors, and cleaning carts safely and effectivelyFollow all safety procedures, chemical handling guidelines, and OSHA regulationsReport maintenance issues, damaged equipment, or safety hazards to supervisors promptlyMaintain custodial closets, equipment, and storage areas in a clean and organized conditionSupport additional facility and custodial operations as assigned by management Work Environment Active college campus environment at Lincoln UniversityFast-paced setting with frequent interaction with students, faculty, staff, and visitorsExposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, noise from equipment, and varying temperaturesMay require evening, weekend, holiday, or special event coverage based on campus operational needsWork may involve multiple campus buildings, stairways, and both indoor and outdoor responsibilities Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred1- year previous custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, or facilities maintenance experience preferredExperience working in educational, healthcare, hospitality, or commercial environments is a plusAbility to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervisionStrong communication and customer service skillsReliable attendance and punctuality requiredAbility to follow written and verbal instructionsEfficiently manage time to complete tasks within designated schedules.Basic communication abilities to understand instructions and work effectively within a team or with supervisors.Familiarity with various cleaning methods, chemicals, and equipment used in custodial work.Understanding and implementing safety guidelines when handling cleaning agents and operating equipment to prevent accidents.
