Key Responsibilities
- Create and modify Allen Bradley PLC programs for our fiber optic cable production plant.
- Design and implement new control systems projects.
- Manage the controls engineering scope of process improvement, capital expansion, and obsolescence mitigation projects.
- Implement robust, cost-effective automation and process machine control systems.
- Interface with external system integrators to successfully deliver fully integrated process equipment systems to Corning’s facility.
- Participate in all phases of the project including design, fabrication, off-line integration and testing, installation, production start-up support, training of plant personnel, and technology transfer.
- Independently follow construction of equipment in vendors’ facilities.
- Work Hours And Schedule
Nominal working hours are M – F, 8 AM – 5 PM. Informal 24/7 coverage for ad-hoc call-in support (3rd Level Subject Matter Expert).
Required Education/Skills
- BS or MS in the following Engineering Disciplines: Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with demonstrated controls aptitude.
- Ability to debug and monitor PLC code – ladder logic.
- Highly motivated and strong electrical aptitude.
- Sound understanding of AC/DC electrical theory, and practical application thereof.
- Seeks to identify and correct potential safety or environmental issues before they occur.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Ability to reach first principles understanding.
- Working knowledge of data analysis techniques using Microsoft Excel, Access, SQL, and/or PowerBI.
- Ability to generate and interpret electrical drawings.
- Knowledge of ANSI standards, NFPA and NEC applicable Electrical Codes.
- Ability to participate on, or lead, project or process improvement teams by communicating with all levels of the organization.
Desired Skills
- 2 years of manufacturing experience.
- Experience and/or understanding of Six Sigma techniques.
- Strong diagnostic skills on electro-mechanical systems.
- Self-starter able to exceed expectations with a minimal amount of Supervision.
- Extensive experience with various electro-mechanical systems.
- Experience with Allen Bradley controllers and associated hardware including: PLC and I/O devices, motion control, various communication protocols, field wiring and disconnect devices.
- Experience with various electro-mechanical devices (i.e. servo motors, valves and sensing devices).
- Experience with industrial vision systems and scanning devices.
- Knowledge of Autodesk Inventor or other 3D modeling software.
Pay
The range for this position is $88,834.00 - $122,148.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
