About the role

Constellation Search Group is looking for a Controls Engineer for a full-time direct hire position. The Controls Engineer will plan, design, and execute electrical engineering and controls work associated with manufacturing and assembly equipment. This involves custom integration and the use of purchased machinery to enhance operational efficiency. The role includes advanced troubleshooting, ensuring machine safety, and supporting new product development.

Responsibilities

  • Provide design and programming for custom assembly applications, including hardware specification, integration, and electrical schematics.
  • Facilitate troubleshooting and repair of equipment with maintenance and engineering teams.
  • Ensure machine safety through code compliance, design updates, and equipment modification.
  • Manage programs and drawings for electrical equipment, ensuring current revisions are available.
  • Support new product development by collaborating with engineering and project teams.
  • Offer guidance for engineering and manufacturing initiatives, focusing on automation technology.
  • Maintain shop floor data systems in collaboration with engineering groups and IT.
  • Identify and develop new hardware, software, and technology applications.
  • Collaborate with integrators and machine builders for automation equipment development.
  • Execute improvement opportunities and strategic projects for the facility.
  • Develop business cases and capital expenditure requests for controls hardware.
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with team members at all organizational levels.
  • Compile and present data for project updates and presentations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in controls design, panel construction, and PLC programming in a high volume assembly environment.
  • Experience with automated and semi-automated equipment, including robotics and motion control.
  • Knowledge of machine safety and wiring standards, including relevant code requirements.
  • Understanding of network architecture and infrastructure.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
