Job Summary The Controls Engineer is key to ensuring the success and efficiency of our high-speed equipment throughout our production and warehousing spaces. This individual will work in a variety of areas of the manufacturing facility, developing PLC and HMI code for automated packaging equipment while also troubleshooting industrial controls and electrical systems. The Controls Engineer will also provide mentorship and coaching to our Controls Technicians and ensure Operations leaders are informed of any challenges or opportunities for improvement on the floor. Duties And Responsibilities Designs and programs all aspects of PLC/HMI software for packaging equipment, writing and modifying extensive programs for Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley and Modicon platformsTests and debugs control systems to ensure reliable, efficient equipment performanceTroubleshoots or establishes control networks, including EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, DH-485, Modbus, and Modbus PlusApplies AC and DC drive experience across various drive platformsTroubleshoots systems including, but not limited to, electrical, instrumentation, and controls, with particular focus on packaging line process control systems and SCADA/MES data systemsCreates, updates, and modifies machine, part, and facilities schematics using CAD, including electrical schematic design and drafting in AutoCAD ElectricalT Trains, mentors, and coaches trainees and front-line automation techniciansPerforms all functions as required within the CMMSPerforms all duties within GMP standards and is responsible for department compliance with GMP, HACCP, and FSMA guidelinesAssist with rotational on-call duties answering calls after hours as needed to ensure business continuity Minimum Qualifications Degree in Electrical Engineering, or 5+ years’ experience in PLC controls engineering in lieu of a degreeAllen-Bradley PLC and motion controls experienceSkilled in RSLogix 500 and Studio 5000Skilled in data acquisition/historian managementPrior experience in root cause analysis and continuous improvementSystem process controls and line balancing experienceAdvanced knowledge of electrical systems, control power and drives, and sanitary control principles, including their operation and troubleshootingExcellent communication, planning, and prioritization skillsStrong leadership and team skillsFlexibility to work any shifts, including weekends and holidays when necessary to cover the needs of a 24/7 business City Brewery is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and all applicants will be considered without attention to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran, or disability status.
