About the role
Trion Indoor Air Quality Solutions, a division of Air Distribution Technologies, Inc., is seeking a Controls Engineer to design, develop, and enhance indoor air quality (IAQ) products.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test all aspects of indoor air quality products as defined by sales and marketing and research & development departments.
- Participate in cross-functional new product development teams to meet schedule, cost, and performance goals.
- Review product development requirement specifications including product management and customer requirements.
- Submit to accounting department sufficient information for preliminary costing.
- Initiate and supervise any required prototype and test model development.
- Schedule and lead pre-production drawing review meetings with product management, sales, manufacturing, quality and senior management.
- Cook with procurement to determine sources for outside services and purchased parts.
- Authorize material substitutions and deviation from standard practice where deemed permissible.
- Provide resources and information to sales/advertising/marketing departments for manuals and sales literature.
- Manage Agency Listings and Product Certification for products as may be assigned.
- Follow and comply with company work and safety rules policies.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering discipline from an accredited university.
- Minimum of 1 year of hands-on engineering experience required.
Preferred Knowledge
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD; experience with 3D modeling and sheet metal design is preferred.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Specific experience with electrical operating characteristic measurement, and control algorithm development is desired.
- Good knowledge of DDC and/or PLC Programming, knowledge of communications protocol for building automation systems such as BACnet IP & MS/TP & Modbus RTU, and control algorithm development is desirable.
- Familiarity with air movement principles, fan laws, and DFMA practices.
- Agency experience with Underwriters Laboratories, Canadian Standards Association, or Intertek (ETL) is desirable.
- Standards capabilities may include some of the following UL1995, UL1996, UL507, UL710, UL867, UL998.
- Knowledge of FMEA, LabView, and testing protocols.
