Controls Engineer
This Controls Engineer will be responsible for projects from cradle to grave—working on designs, programs, and overall support of automated machinery. The role includes configuring and commissioning servo and motion control systems, testing and debugging equipment, and troubleshooting software, electrical, and machine integration issues. Additionally, this person will provide remote support to customers and field service teams, assist with machine startups, and deliver customer training.
Responsibilities
- Program, modify, and maintain PLC applications
- Design, develop, and maintain HMI applications
- Configure and commission servo and motion control systems
- Test, debug, and validate automated equipment
- Troubleshoot controls and machine problems
- Assist with machine startups at customer sites when needed
- Read, redline, and create electrical schematics to support design
- Occasionally travel (less than 5% of the time) to customer sites to support field service, commissioning, and training
Requirements
- 1+ years in automation/controls (can be from internship/co-ops)
- PLC programming experience
- HMI development experience
- Experience with machine startup, commissioning, and debugging
- Ability to read and create electrical schematics
- Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with customers
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferred)
- Experience with machine builder environments or custom automation projects
- Experience with controls projects from start to finish
- Electrical schematics design experience
- Interest in taking ownership of projects and seeing them through all phases of development

Pay
The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $31.00/hr. Individual compensation offered within this range will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
