Controls Engineer
We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to design, install, and support PLC-based hardware and software for mechanical and hydraulic manufacturing equipment.
Responsibilities
- Install and provide technical support for PLC-based hardware and software.
- Design and implement control systems for mechanical and hydraulic manufacturing equipment.
- Ensure installation and commissioning meet design standards.
- Design, implement, maintain, and improve electrical instruments.
- Identify technologies for engineering projects.
- Procure and integrate industrial equipment and automation controls.
- Program Visual Basic for production data collection and traceability.
- Program, debug, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and robotic systems.
- Conduct electrical troubleshooting and debugging.
- Develop and maintain electrical systems for a safe working environment.
- Improve quality and manufacturing process performance.
- Design and program PLCs and variable frequency drives.
- Assist maintenance with troubleshooting equipment and controls-related issues.
- Perform system specification, design, architecture, and development for control systems.
- Program Rockwell/Siemens PLCs, networking, and HMI.
- Develop standards, procedures, manuals, and other documentation for projects.
- Design and implement compressor and pumps control systems.
- Perform basic troubleshooting of communications networks and wiring.
- Study project and customer specification documents and develop control packages accordingly.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Quality departments to ensure compliance with the change management process.
Requirements
- 5+ years in controls engineering.
- PLC programming experience with Rockwell and/or Siemens.
- HMI programming.
- Electrical troubleshooting expertise.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Experience with plastic and rubber industries.
Work Environment
The role requires spending a majority of the time on the floor troubleshooting and teaching maintenance controls. The facility operates on a shift basis with 1st shift running from 7 AM to 3 PM and 2nd shift from 3 PM to 11 PM. The facility is a global automotive supplier that has recently come under new management.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr. Individual compensation offered within this range will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a Contract to Hire, fully onsite position based in Russell Springs, KY. The facility operates on a shift basis with 1st shift (7 AM to 3 PM) and 2nd shift (3 PM to 11 PM).
