Controls Application Engineer

Responsible for accurately estimating multiple controls project opportunities simultaneously. Knowledgeable in all phases of a controls project including concept and research, technical support, estimating, component selection, network design, safety, panel and electrical design, ACAD layouts, troubleshooting, PLC programming, HMI design, on-site installation, and debug.

Responsibilities

• Estimate and quote projects that meet or exceed customer's expectations
• Help develop an accurate project schedule
• Produce highly accurate costing estimates
• Contribute to project teams, providing help outside of controls scope when required
• Be a great team member and contributor within the office environment
• Establish beneficial relationships with key supplier products and services
• Develop new controls techniques or equipment to maintain industry leadership
• Develop accurate and competitive estimating for controls opportunities
• Support engineering sales team with clients/customers through demonstrated integration experience
• Work with internal teams around overall project deliverables
• Cost engineer solutions prior to submitting proposals
• Work with internal teams to cost engineer entire systems to ensure the best solution for customers
• Help develop new controls processes and lead integration of new controls technologies
• Assist in solving complex technical problems
• Help train and develop junior controls engineers

Requirements

• Bachelor of Engineering; Masters of Engineering preferred
• 2+ years’ experience in PLC programming, panel design, hands-on and mechanical capabilities, controls project managing
• Extremely computer literate with MS Office products
• AutoCAD experience
• Material Handling Integration experience
• Experience with machine control electrical design, programming, and troubleshooting
• SCADA experience using Ignition (preferred)
• Must be eligible to work in the USA long term without sponsorship
• Must follow all information security policies, protect confidential data, complete required training, and report suspected security incidents

Travel

Up to 10% overnight travel (travel expenses paid by Toyota Automated Logistics).
