About the role
The Controller oversees the accounting department, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and cash management. Key responsibilities include:
- Timely and accurate preparation of month-end closing procedures, monthly financial statements, budgeting, and cash forecasting.
- Daily bank deposits, maintenance of house banks and petty cash funds, verification of postings and night audit reports, credit card transfers, AP, AR, and inventory control.
- Management and review of general ledger and accounts reconciliations, including bank statements and intercompany accounts.
- Proactive analysis of operations and systems to enhance efficiency and profitability.
- Management and review of local tax compliance and the implementation of company policies and procedures.
- Assist in the annual budget process and manage the hotel’s contracts and agreements.
Responsibilities
As the Controller, you will:
- Manage the accounting department, ensuring efficient and accurate financial operations.
- Implement and oversee all financial activities, including budgeting, cash forecasting, and compliance with internal controls and legal requirements.
- Train management on accounting procedures and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Identify and report on key financial and operational performance metrics.
- Work closely with the Corporate Accounting Team to improve accounting processes and systems.
- Safeguard the hotel’s contracts and agreements.
Requirements
Qualifications for this position include:
- A minimum of five years of general ledger accounting experience, preferably in a hotel setting.
- A minimum of two years of accounting supervisory experience.
- A bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration.
- Extensive knowledge of accounting functions and proficiency with automated accounting systems like M3 or Profit Sword.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, organize workflows, and work independently with minimal supervision.
