Controller (Remote)
Primary Purpose
The Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, financial reporting, cash management, and internal controls. This position manages the monthly close process, construction accounting, project financial reporting, and day-to-day accounting functions while providing financial analysis to executive leadership.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Own and manage the full monthly close process
Prepare accurate monthly financial statements
Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules
Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger accounting
Manage construction accounting, including job costing, WIP schedules, retainage, overbillings, underbillings, and accrued project costs
Develop and strengthen accounting procedures, internal controls, and financial reporting
Work with external auditors, tax advisors, banks, insurance providers, and other financial partners
Provide ownership and management with clear, practical financial analysis
Help build scalable accounting processes as the company grows
Minimal Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Experience: 2+ years of progressive accounting experience
Knowledge: Strong understanding of accrual accounting principles and GAAP
Skills: Experience preparing financial statements and balance sheet reconciliations, knowledge of general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll, strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, excellent attention to detail and accuracy, ability to communicate financial concepts effectively to non-financial stakeholders, advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Absenteeism: Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Job Requirements
Certification/License: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
Experience: 3+ years of construction, general contractor, or project-based accounting experience, experience managing cash flow forecasting and working capital, experience with ERP or construction accounting software, experience supporting external audits and coordinating with tax advisors
Compensation
Constructiv is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The annual salary for this role is $90,000.00 - $110,000.00, plus annual performance bonus and employee-ownership benefits. This compensation will ultimately be in line with the location in which the position is filled. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. This role is eligible for variable compensation including short term and long-term incentives.

The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion, the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders.
The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Up to 80% travel and valid Driver’s License required.
