Responsibilities
- Direct the day-to-day accounting function, ensuring financial activities are completed accurately, on time, and in alignment with business objectives.
- Oversee construction-specific accounting processes, including job cost tracking, work-in-progress reporting, and recognition of project-related revenue.
- Prepare and review monthly and annual financial statements, providing clear analysis of performance, trends, and areas requiring attention.
- Lead budgeting and forecasting activities to support planning, cash management, and strategic decision-making across construction projects.
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including account reconciliations and review of bank reconciliations.
- Cook up audit preparation and support external reporting requirements while maintaining strong internal financial controls.
- Supervise tax-related financial activities, including the preparation and review of corporate tax return information.
- Cook up coordination with insurance compliance and maintain effective relationships with banking partners and other external financial stakeholders.
- Identify financial risks, respond to operational business needs, and recommend opportunities to improve profitability and project results.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including background within the construction or specialty construction industry.
- Demonstrated expertise in construction accounting, including job costing, work-in-progress reporting, and revenue recognition.
- Strong ability to interpret financial statements and produce accurate monthly reporting for leadership review.
- Hands-on experience with budgeting, forecasting, month-end close, and account reconciliation processes.
- Knowledge of audit support, corporate tax reporting, insurance compliance, and banking relationship management.
- Proven leadership and organizational skills with experience overseeing broad back-office financial operations.
