Position Summary
The Controller is responsible for the financial management, billing integrity, and regulatory compliance of the organization's Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies (DMEPOS) operations. This role oversees revenue cycle performance, reimbursement accuracy, and internal controls related to Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer billing for DMEPOS products, while partnering closely with clinical operations to ensure financial data supports sound business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day accounting and financial reporting for DMEPOS revenue streams, including month-end close, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, including accreditation reviews (e.g., ACHC, CHAP).
- Prepare financial statements, board reports, and ad hoc analyses for executive leadership.
- Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
- Oversee inventory costing, capitalization, and depreciation for durable medical equipment assets.
- Manage billing and revenue reconciliation for hospice contracts, ensuring accurate per-diem/capitated billing contract compliance, and timely resolution of discrepancies with hospice partners.
- Supervise, train, and mentor AR, AP, and accounting staff, fostering a culture of accuracy and accountability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or CMA preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, with at least 2 years in DME/HME, home health, or healthcare billing operations.
- Familiarity with hospice contract billing arrangements, including per-diem and capitated payment structures preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP or accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage) preferred.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with operations and executive leadership.
Working Conditions
Fully on-site, office-based role at the corporate office. May require extended hours during month-end close, audits, or accreditation reviews.
