Responsibilities
- Manage all accounting operations, including general ledger, financial reporting, accounts payable, and month-end close activities
- Maintain financial reporting and ensure its accuracy
- Monitor project costs, development expenditures, and construction-related financial activity
- Analyze budget-to-actual results and investigate variances
- Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes
- Develop and maintain effective internal controls and accounting procedures
- Review job-cost reporting and assist operational leaders with financial analysis
- Cook up coordination of external audit requests and corporate reporting requirements
- Evaluate and improve accounting workflows, systems, and reporting tools
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff
- Possess a deep partnership with construction, purchasing, sales, and administrative teams to support business objectives
- Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Previous Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or senior finance leadership experience
- Strong understanding of construction accounting, job costing, and project-based financial reporting
- Experience managing accounting teams
- Demonstrated history of career stability and professional growth
- Advanced Excel and financial systems proficiency
Qualifications
- Preferred CPA designation
- Public accounting background
- ERP experience
- Experience supporting multi-community or multi-project construction operations
