About the Role
Under the direct supervision of the AGM of Business Administration, the Controller will assist in the development and implementation of company goals and priorities relating to financial management, budgeting, accounting, purchasing, and/or payroll in compliance with State and Federal law, and Legends Global policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Assists in the development and implementation of company goals and priorities relating to financial management, annual budgeting, monthly forecasting, general accounting, purchasing, and/or payroll in compliance with State and Federal law, and Legends Global policies and procedures.
- Monitors Legends Global compliance with all provisions of the company's management contract.
- Manages internal controls, risk management, and financial systems to improve accuracy and prevent fraud.
- Maintains contact with Legends Global risk management department and insurance broker for coordination of appropriate coverages.
- Reviews contracts for client, events, subcontractors, food and beverage, or concessionaires.
- Reviews and/or prepares event settlements for all customers/events.
- Reviews and executes checks and deposits; reviews daily cash receipts and disbursements.
- Monitors and projects daily cash flow; invests excess cash as needed.
- Reviews all purchasing of office supplies and facility supplies.
- Develops and implements all financial reporting for operations according to GAAP, including:
- Prepares financial statements for the Client and Legends Global Corporate, and other financial reports, including monthly statements, annual budgets, and annual reports.
- Directs the installation and maintenance of accounting records to show receipts and expenditures.
- Directs the maintenance of general ledger and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, depreciation, cost, property, and operating expenses, and insurance records.
- Analyzes financial performance and cost analyses for all departments; prepares monthly financial statements, recommends appropriate actions/changes to meet business goals.
- Prepares statements and reports of estimated future costs and revenues.
- Assists with the following tasks related to the facilities:
- Directs internal audits involving review of accounting and administrative controls.
- Coordinates preparation of Client or external audit materials and financial reporting.
- Implements recommendations of Client as requested.
- Coordinates year-end report of fiscal performance for the General Manager's report.
- Directs the installation and maintenance of any new accounting, timekeeping, payroll, inventory, property, and other related procedures and controls.
- Reviews financial statements with management personnel.
- Participates in union labor contract administration; maintains effective working relationship with union representatives.
- Acts as Manager on Duty as required.
- Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- During daily facility operations, responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the entire finance department.
- Directly supervises the entire Finance Department employees.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Legends Global policies and applicable laws.
Qualifications
- B.S. in Accounting from a four-year college or university.
- At least 4 to 6 years' experience in public accounting and/or financial management.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Controller role with full cycle financial reporting responsibilities and finance department oversight.
Skills and Abilities
- Extensive knowledge of general and cost accounting.
- Excellent math skills; high aptitude for figures.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and organizational ability.
- Ability to work with and maintain highly confidential information.
- Strong leadership and management skills with managing a team of 4 or more team members.
- Extensive knowledge of accounting software, spreadsheets, and word processing software.
- Experience with ADP or similar payroll systems is desirable.
- Ability to work under limited supervision and to interact with all levels of staff including management.
- Ability to work irregular hours that may vary due to functions and may include day, evening, weekends, and holidays.
- The ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet strict deadlines.
- Must have professional attitude and appearance.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
CPA, MBA, or CMA certification strongly preferred.
