Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting activities to ensure financial records are completed accurately and reporting deadlines are consistently achieved.
- Manage positive pay activity and related cash control processes to support secure and timely transaction handling.
- Review departmental workflows, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement more efficient practices while preserving a high standard of accuracy.
- Prepare and deliver financial analyses, management reports, and ad hoc updates requested by senior leadership.
- Direct the general ledger function, including oversight of month-end and year-end close activities and coordination of audit readiness efforts.
- Partner with internal stakeholders and the parent organization on recurring financial reporting, planning initiatives, and broader business support needs.
- Develop and introduce process enhancements, tools, and department procedures that improve productivity and reporting effectiveness.
- Lead, coach, and support accounting staff through training, performance feedback, annual goal setting, and resolution of employee relations matters within the department.
- Contribute to system or process implementation efforts when needed, ensuring accounting requirements are addressed and operational continuity is maintained.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a closely related discipline required.
- CPA designation, active license, or eligibility to obtain certification required.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience, including 5 years of leadership or management responsibility in a mid-sized or large accounting environment preferred.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, account reconciliation, general ledger oversight, GAAP, year-end close, and external audit support.
- Experience in manufacturing or construction environments is preferred.
- Familiarity with positive pay processes and accounting systems such as AS400 is advantageous.
