Controller
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Controller to provide financial leadership in a manufacturing environment in Virginia. This long-term contract position focuses on building clear performance measures to enhance visibility across purchasing, inventory, production, and product costing. The ideal candidate will bring a practical approach to organizing financial information, translating operational activity into meaningful metrics, and supporting decision-making with accurate analysis.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain financial and operational measurements that improve visibility into purchasing activity, inventory performance, and production results
- Organize, consolidate, and summarize procurement-related data to support stronger reporting and more informed business decisions
- Establish meaningful metrics for material planning and inventory management, including tracking trends, exceptions, and improvement opportunities
- Partner with plant and operations leadership to create reporting that evaluates efficiency, throughput, and other key manufacturing performance indicators
- Provide cost of goods sold accounting support and help connect plant activity with accurate financial outcomes
- Analyze operational and financial data to identify gaps, improve controls, and support ongoing performance management
- Create structured documentation and reporting processes that ensure important records are captured, maintained, and easily accessible
- Support cross-functional teams by compiling information from multiple sources and presenting findings in a clear, actionable format
Qualifications
- Prior experience serving as a Controller or Plant Controller within a manufacturing or industrial setting
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory controls, and financial reporting tied to plant operations
- Demonstrated ability to build metrics, dashboards, or performance reporting for procurement, planning, and operations
- Experience organizing, compiling, and maintaining business documentation with a high level of accuracy
- Proficiency in document control, document scanning, and managing large volumes of operational or financial records
- Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate findings into practical recommendations
- Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with finance, supply chain, and operations stakeholders
