Controller
Responsibilities
- Direct core accounting functions, including receivables, payables, general ledger activity, and account reconciliations, to ensure complete and accurate financial records.
- Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports that give leadership clear visibility into company performance and financial position.
- Lead the close cycle by coordinating month-end and year-end activities and ensuring deadlines are met with a high standard of accuracy.
- Partner with company leadership to build annual budgets, update forecasts, and monitor cash flow needs across the business.
- Analyze financial results against plan, explain key variances, and recommend actions that strengthen profitability and cost control.
- Serve as the primary finance contact for external auditors, tax professionals, and banking partners while helping refine accounting systems and workflows.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including 2 or more years in a leadership-level accounting or Controller position.
- Strong command of financial reporting, month-end close, and internal control practices.
- Experience using accounting software such as QuickBooks Desktop or comparable platforms, along with advanced Excel skills.
- Background in accounts receivable, billing statements, and general accounting within a service-oriented business.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, solve problems effectively, and communicate financial information clearly.
- Supervisory experience with responsibility for guiding accounting staff and managing workflow.
- CPA or related credential, along with experience in administrative services, legal services, or project-based billing environments, is preferred.
