About the role
The Controller will oversee all financial operations for the Melbourne-area business unit, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and strategic financial guidance.
Responsibilities
- Complete general accounting tasks including general ledger, job costing, fixed assets, banking, accounts payable and receivable, billing, collections, and weekly payroll.
- Perform account analysis and reconciliations.
- Lead month-end, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors to ensure accurate and readily available financial data.
- Prepare financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow) in compliance with corporate accounting policies and GAAP standards for timely platform-level consolidation.
- Review financial statements and operational reports with stakeholders, conducting gap analysis and providing performance improvement recommendations.
- Analyze key financial and operational metrics, initiating strategies to enhance profitability and cash flow.
- Perform budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning for the business unit.
- Provide financial insights to the Business Unit President and platform executives to guide strategic decision-making and operational improvements.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial reporting accuracy, automation, and operational efficiency, aligning with corporate best practices.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory filings, tax obligations, and audit requirements.
- Report quarterly payroll tax and sales tax returns, and annual Forms 1099 and property tax statements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to collaborate and build relationships across departments.
