Responsibilities
- Direct the full scope of accounting activities, including general ledger oversight, cost accounting, and the preparation of timely financial statements.
- Assess financial and operational results against plans and performance goals, then recommend corrective actions and efficiency improvements.
- Administer compliance with government contracting regulations, including appropriate treatment of revenue, cost allocation, and related reporting requirements.
- Establish, maintain, and enhance internal control procedures while coordinating support for audit activities and compliance reviews.
- Lead, coach, and develop a small accounting staff, fostering accountability and continuous growth.
- Manage the annual budget and recurring forecast cycles, evaluate variances, and translate findings into practical guidance for leadership.
- Prepare and present financial analyses, forward-looking projections, and capital expenditure evaluations to support business decisions.
- Work closely with operational leaders to strengthen cost management, improve productivity, and increase overall business performance.
- Track profitability, margins, and other key metrics, while overseeing financial processes related to fixed assets and inventory.
- Ensure adherence to applicable accounting standards, contractual requirements, and internal corporate policies across finance operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; an advanced degree is preferred.
- At least 5 years of progressively responsible finance or accounting experience that includes leadership of people or processes.
- Prior experience in the aerospace and defense sector is required.
- Strong working knowledge of US GAAP, government contract compliance, DFARS, DCAA expectations, and Cost Accounting Standards.
- Experience with project-based accounting, including long-term contract environments involving cost-plus and fixed-price work.
- Proficiency with ERP and financial systems such as Deltek Costpoint, SAP, or Oracle, along with advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to build partnerships across departments, communicate clearly, and solve complex financial issues.
- Background in budgeting, forecasting, capital expenditure analysis, and internal control management is required.
