Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation and review of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Manage all accounting functions, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and month-end/year-end close processes.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and all applicable regulatory and reporting requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain strong accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Lead all construction-related accounting activities, including job costing, Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting, contract accounting, and project profitability analysis.
  • Monitor project costs, budgets, and financial performance to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Partner closely with Project Managers to review financial results, analyze variances, and proactively address potential cost overruns.
  • Ensure compliance with construction industry financial requirements, tax regulations, and reporting obligations.
  • Direct the annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Prepare detailed financial analyses and management reports to support strategic business decisions.
  • Manage and forecast company cash flow, banking relationships, and credit facilities.
  • Provide financial guidance and recommendations to Executive Leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting management and supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated construction accounting experience, including job costing, WIP reporting, project cost analysis, and contract accounting.
  • Experience leading and developing accounting teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to build strong working relationships and collaborate across departments.
  • Strong leadership presence with a hands-on, team-oriented management style.
  • Construction, specialty contractor, or project-based industry experience.
  • Preferred Experience working with government contracting requirements, including FAR and DFARS compliance.
  • CPA designation is a plus.
