Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the preparation and review of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Manage all accounting functions, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and month-end/year-end close processes.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and all applicable regulatory and reporting requirements.
- Develop, implement, and maintain strong accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Lead all construction-related accounting activities, including job costing, Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting, contract accounting, and project profitability analysis.
- Monitor project costs, budgets, and financial performance to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Partner closely with Project Managers to review financial results, analyze variances, and proactively address potential cost overruns.
- Ensure compliance with construction industry financial requirements, tax regulations, and reporting obligations.
- Direct the annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Prepare detailed financial analyses and management reports to support strategic business decisions.
- Manage and forecast company cash flow, banking relationships, and credit facilities.
- Provide financial guidance and recommendations to Executive Leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting management and supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated construction accounting experience, including job costing, WIP reporting, project cost analysis, and contract accounting.
- Experience leading and developing accounting teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Proven ability to build strong working relationships and collaborate across departments.
- Strong leadership presence with a hands-on, team-oriented management style.
- Construction, specialty contractor, or project-based industry experience.
- Preferred Experience working with government contracting requirements, including FAR and DFARS compliance.
- CPA designation is a plus.
