Controller

Responsibilities

• Direct the company’s accounting function, including oversight of financial reporting, general ledger activity, and period-end close processes.
• Maintain accurate job cost data and review expenditures against budgets and contract expectations.
• Prepare and review monthly financial statements to ensure completeness, accuracy, and alignment with US GAAP standards.
• Establish and maintain effective controls for document handling, including organizing, scanning, and preserving financial and operational records.
• Coordinate account reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies affecting reporting accuracy or project results.
• Provide financial insight to operational and project teams, support cost visibility, and enhance overall accounting discipline.
• Manage the month-end close cycle efficiently by setting deadlines, reviewing entries, and ensuring all supporting documentation is in place.
• Support audits and compliance efforts by compiling required records and maintaining well-structured financial documentation for review.

Qualifications

• Experience serving in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role within construction, contracting, or a related project-based environment.
• Strong working knowledge of construction accounting principles, including job cost tracking and project financial reporting.
• Solid understanding of US GAAP and the ability to apply accounting standards to daily operations and month-end reporting.
• Proven ability to lead an accurate and timely month-end close process in a fast-paced business setting.
• Experience with document control practices, including scanning, organizing, and maintaining accounting records.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify variances, reconcile accounts, and support informed financial decisions.
• High attention to detail and the ability to manage confidential financial information with professionalism and accuracy.
