About the role
This is a hands-on leadership role within an established, growing technology services business backed by Pine Services Group. The successful candidate will report to the COO and will be responsible for accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and HR administration.
Responsibilities
- Own the finance and accounting function end-to-end — accounting operations, financial close, reconciliations, reporting, cash management, and internal controls. This includes both oversight and hands-on execution.
- Prepare financial statements and lead audit processes, ensuring accuracy, GAAP compliance, and readiness for external review.
- Serve as the administrative liaison with the company's PEO for payroll, benefits, onboarding, offboarding, and routine compliance matters.
- Maintain employee documentation and coordinate approved HR policies and processes.
- Escalate material financial, employee-relations, legal, and compliance matters to the COO.
- Build and maintain strong relationships across stakeholders, founders, and the broader Pine ecosystem.
- Provide financial and HR-related insights and recommendations to the leadership team.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in accounting, with a strong understanding of financial statement preparation, multi-entity consolidation, and GAAP compliance.
- Proven ability to identify and address data anomalies, ensuring accuracy and consistency in financial reporting.
- Experience leading or supporting financial audits and meeting tax requirements.
- Strong communication skills — able to present complex financial information at varying levels of detail to both finance and non-finance audiences.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A roll-up-your-sleeves mindset — comfortable moving between strategic and tactical, and energized by building in ambiguous environments.
Qualifications
- Nice to have: Public accounting experience; CPA strongly preferred.
- Experience with HR administrative functions, including PEO relationships and compliance coordination.
- Experience scaling a finance function in a high-growth or PE-backed environment.
