About the role
KBW Financial Staffing is leading a search for an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to lead and oversee all accounting operations for a $20 million services company on the New Hampshire Seacoast. This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining effective internal controls, and providing financial guidance that supports business decisions. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills who enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, including coordination of external audit activities.
- Provide financial analysis and strategic recommendations to leadership to support operational and business decisions.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal control processes.
- Oversee all accounting functions, including the general ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and bank reconciliations.
- Collaborate with department leaders to establish, monitor, and report on financial metrics and key performance indicators.
- Direct budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and overall financial planning activities.
- Ensure account reconciliations are completed accurately and timely to maintain the integrity of financial records.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated success as a Controller or in a similar accounting leadership position.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal control best practices.
- MBA, CPA, or other advanced education or professional certifications are a plus.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite.
Pay
$150,000 to $175,000, plus bonus.
