Controller
About the role
The Director of Finance will report to the organization's senior operational leader and will oversee all core finance and accounting activities while providing strategic financial guidance to business leaders.
Responsibilities
- Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
- Analyze financial results, identify key trends, and provide strategic recommendations to support business decisions
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and cost management initiatives
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger, chart of accounts, fixed asset records, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Provide leadership for the accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, cash management, and credit functions
- Monitor manufacturing costs, overhead, and operating expenses while identifying opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency
- Champion financial process improvements, reporting standardization, and ERP implementation or system enhancement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with applicable financial reporting standards, tax regulations, and statutory requirements
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team while fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture
- Partner with cross-functional leaders to support strategic initiatives and continuous business improvement
Requirements
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is required. A CPA or another professional accounting designation is considered an asset. Progressive leadership experience in finance and accounting, preferably within a manufacturing environment, is required. Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cost accounting, and internal controls is essential. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with ERP or enterprise accounting systems are necessary. Advanced analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities are required. Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills are essential. Bilingual communication skills are considered an asset.
