Controller
About the role
We're looking for a seasoned Controller to oversee all financial and accounting operations across our affiliate network. Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a high-impact leadership role responsible for producing accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting strategic decision-making across the organization. The right candidate brings deep GAAP knowledge, healthcare experience, and the ability to lead a team in a fast-moving, multi-entity environment.
Responsibilities
- Day-to-day accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, and financial reporting
- Monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement preparation in accordance with GAAP
- Internal controls, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance and financial integrity
- Budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning in partnership with the CFO
- Performance analysis across departments and service lines — identifying trends and recommending improvements
- Audit coordination and primary liaison with external auditors and regulatory bodies
- Payroll monitoring, reconciliation of cost allocations, withholdings, and liabilities
- Leadership, training, and performance management of the accounting team
Requirements
- 10+ years of combined accounting and finance experience
- Prior experience managing budgets in excess of $300M
- Healthcare billing and finance background strongly preferred
- Advanced degree in Accounting or MBA; CPA highly preferred
- Strong GAAP knowledge including Cash Basis accounting
- Experience with month-end/year-end close, financial statement preparation, and GL functions
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally with clinical and operational leadership
