Job Details
We are seeking a seasoned and strategic Controller to join our well established, mission driven organization. This is an exceptional opportunity for a finance professional who is not only able to manage financial operations, but also can build a financial strategy that aligns with our company's objectives. This role requires a strong understanding of grant accounting, forecasting, and monthly reporting. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role and will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities, reporting on revenue, training accounting staff, budgeting, disbursing funds to departments, managing risk, implementing policies, and improving financial processes.
Responsibilities
- Oversight of all company accounting practices, including accounting departments, preparing budgets, financial reports, tax and audit functions.
- Direct financial strategy, planning and forecasts; conferring with CEO, COO and the leadership team.
- Analyze and interpret financial data and recommend changes to improve systems and financial performance.
- Understand and mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile.
- Ensure the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements regarding finances, tax filings and reporting.
- Establish, maintain, and continuously improve internal accounting controls and financial policies to safeguard assets and ensure accuracy, transparency, and accountability across all entities.
- Implement operational best practices and oversee all operations and business activities to ensure they produce the desired results and are consistent with the overall strategy and mission.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. CMA or CPA certification required.
- Proven experience as a Financial leader in a non-profit organization.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
- Experience with creating financial statements and financial analysis.
- Excellent accounting software user and administration skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
