ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Affirms policy development regarding operational, accounting, and auditing practices.
- Maintains compliance with IGC regulations concerning span of control.
- Maintains the effectiveness of audit functions and implements changes as needed.
- Prepares daily reports and month-end financial statements.
- Prepares balance sheet account analyses, including gaming tax liability, point liability, and allowance for doubtful accounts.
- Presents reports and statements and analyzes general ledger accounts.
- Reviews payroll-related tax reports for accuracy and proper clearance of general ledger accounts.
- Interviews and evaluates company vendors.
- Analyzes vendor capabilities against corporate and operational standards.
- Establishes and monitors supplier performance standards.
- Maintains compliance with safety standards and required certifications.
- Supervises staff under span of control and conducts performance evaluations.
- Ensures compliance with safety standards, health standards, the Colorado Limited Gaming Act, and internal policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Gaming experience as a controller required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business discipline required; Master’s degree preferred.
- CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional certification strongly preferred.
- Must obtain and maintain all required gaming licenses and regulatory approvals from the Colorado Division of Gaming.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, with at least 3 years in a management or controller-level role.
- Prior experience in a gaming, casino, hospitality, or other highly regulated industry strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with revenue audit functions, cash handling environments, and internal control frameworks.
- Proven experience overseeing general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue audit, and count processes.
- An MBA or CPA is preferred.
