About the role
The Controller leads and oversees accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance functions while supporting the manufacturing operation. This role ensures financial accuracy, GAAP compliance, and provides financial analysis to drive business decisions. The Controller partners with leadership to improve operational performance, identify cost-saving opportunities, and develop key performance metrics.
Responsibilities
- Oversee local accounting functions, financial data analysis, and preparation of financial reports in accordance with GAAP.
- Lead the month-end financial close process, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Manage fixed assets and capital documentation, ensuring compliance with company policies and assisting with AFE acquisition tracking.
- Prepare and communicate financial summaries and forecasts, including budgeting, income, expenses, and earnings.
- Engage with management to drive operational improvements, identify opportunities, and support cost-saving initiatives.
- Ensure documentation and procedures comply with company policies, including SOX requirements.
- Lead weekly and monthly performance meetings to communicate operating results, pipeline spending, and process improvements.
- Own and refine the inventory process, including inventory events, cycle counts, and addressing negative inventory or E&O.
- Develop and communicate key performance metrics, challenging the status quo where applicable.
- Coordinate and prepare for internal and external audits, ensuring financial integrity.
- Ensure accuracy of cost accounting methods.
- Participate in continuous improvement events and train/coach leaders on financial and operational performance.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, including tax reporting and updates.
- Serve as the key contact for state and local representatives regarding personal property tax, income tax, and sales tax assessments.
- Contribute as a key member of the consolidated group’s finance team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent; CPA or CMA preferred.
- Five or more years of progressive manufacturing accounting experience in a standard costing environment.
- Excellent communication and management skills, with the ability to lead a team.
- Ability to identify discrepancies, evaluate systems, and define solutions for process improvements.
- Experience with ERP systems, business software, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate across all levels of the organization while maintaining confidentiality.
- Ability to establish and meet deadlines, work independently, and focus on both big-picture goals and detailed processes.
- Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) requirements.

Schedule
Must be able to work between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM, with occasional overtime as needed.
