Controller

An outstanding opportunity for an accomplished Controller to join a respected organization in the Chicago market. This role is ideal for a CPA with strong accounting and audit experience who is ready to take ownership of financial operations and serve as a key financial partner to leadership. The Controller will enjoy a broad, hands-on role with visibility across the organization, influencing financial planning, strengthening processes, improving reporting, and guiding the finance team.

About the Role

• Oversee financial management, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial reporting.
• Manage the general ledger and ensure accurate recording of all financial activity.
• Prepare and analyze balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and other financial reports.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, DCAA guidelines, and applicable regulations.
• Perform account reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records.
• Manage banking relationships and monitor organizational cash flow.
• Oversee payroll processing to ensure accurate and timely payments.
• Provide financial guidance to the accounting/finance team and promote best practices.
• Conduct audits, identify opportunities for improvement, and strengthen financial controls.
• Support leadership with financial analysis, insights, and strategic planning.

Requirements

• CPA certification.
• Approximately 10+ years of accounting experience, including public accounting/audit experience.
• Strong GAAP knowledge.
• Experience with Delek Vision, QuickBooks, and Yardi is highly desirable.
